About Us

Established by state legislative Revised Statute 56:421 and staffed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Louisiana Oyster Task Force serves to monitor the oyster industry issues and opportunities and to make recommendations that maximize benefits from the industry to Louisiana and its citizens. Specific responsibilities of LOTF include marketing, presenting industry views in various legal and regulatory affairs, and administering the Oyster Development Fund, as generated from oyster tag revenues.

Advocate for federal, state and local policies that advance the objectives and vitality of the industry.
Educate federal, state and local policymakers on issues of importance to the industry and the families that depend on it.
Promote the Louisiana oyster industry brand among consumers, restaurants, and culinary leaders.
Promote the cultural and heritage value of the industry as an important part of what makes Louisiana unique.

LOTF is composed of 20 members appointed for specific terms by various state and local governing bodies and industry organizations that represent specific geographic and business interests.
